NUST succumbed to a 3rd defeat in their 3rd match of the tournament on Tuesday against United Arab Emirates. United Arab Emirates lads won by 3 wickets.
Even though Team Nust played much better than they have done in the past two matches against university teams from Bangladesh and Pakistan with a run rate of 7.5, their target of 120 runs in 16 overs was reached by the rivals in 13 overs.
Batsman Syed Faizan, Man of the match from UAE, did the most damage by scoring 7 sixes and 4 fours.
However, Anele Ngwenya and Tawanda Charumbira did well to limit the rivals’ scores with superb bowling. Anele had the best economy rate in the game, a lean 2.25, coupled with 3 wickets in 4 overs.
Mthandazo Moyo’s fine catching and batting partnership with Mzingaye Mdlongwa also contributed to the less embarrassing defeat today.
The NUST boys will play the Sri Lanka and India in the next two matches before the tournament enters the penultimate stage.
